Song Said to Have Been Sung by Sam     page 4.

According to the wisdom of the village elders, if the village were older than time itself, the tradition of the elders would also be older than time itself.  Although this idea does seem somewhat nonsensical, it was not considered wise to question the wisdom of the elders or the lack thereof.  For his part, William the Wee Wizard would never deign to do that.  His younger sister was all too willing.

The siblings wended their way, along a time-trodden path leading to the next village, an hour's walk away.  Accompanied by the trill of a trembler that they still had not been able to identify, they passed under a very old and very rusty chain creaking deliciously in a gentle breeze or at least the lovingly carved weather beaten oaken sign that hung from it creaked ever so slightly.  As he had done every single school day since grade one, Will stopped and looked back in angst long before he had the foggiest notion what comprised it.

The sign read:

Welcome to the Village of Older

No Inn Gun Ma-Eul

Older than Time Itself

It was on this spot that Sam is said to have sung.

As he had done every single school morning since grade one, Will the Wee Wizard said, "Whatever!"

"Was that a cat, I just saw," asked Darlene.

"A dog you mean," retorted Will.

"Looked more like a cat to me," Darlene replied.  That's the funniest dog, I ever did see."

"Dog!"

"Cat!"

"If I didn't know you better, Darlene, I'd say you were a moron.  It's a cat, I tell you!  I mean dog.   What made me say cat?"

"You've come to your senses, however briefly," Darlene replied.  "Have you ever had a dog rub up against your leg?"
