Flushing:  a New York neighbourhood in the borough of Queens known for its diverse ethnic groups.

licorice:  a flavourful herb that has been used in cooking and as a medicine for thousands of years.

tempo:  The rate of speed of a musical piece indicated by one of a series of directions such as: largo, presto, allegro.

sync:

calypso:  in mythology a sea nymph who was said to be the daughter of the Titan god Atlas.  In music calypso is a form of Caribbean music.

reggae: a music genre that developed in Jamaica in the 1960s.

rudiments:  a basic principle or element of a fundamental skill

morphed: changed shape

taboo:  originally a term used only in the islands of Tonga in the South Pacific but eventually the word was adopted by many other languages and cultures.  The original usage was directed to the premise that something was forbidden because of supposedly dangerous supernatural powers.

merlot: is a red wine grape   

Lilliputian: derived from Gulliver's travels to the land of Lilliput.
