Aristophanes was at the peak of his dramatic power in about 420 B.C. He wrote many   plays, eleven of which survive:

The Clouds, Lysistrata, The Congresswomen, The Knights, Peace, The Wasps, The Achamians.  He was known as the King of Comedy.  Many of his plays were political satires.
