Debut, the act of beginning something new, is most appropriate in this time of Web 2.0.  Participants in Debut have the opportunity of participating in creating their own idiosyncratic glossaries, which makes a lot of sense.  There is not much sense in knowing all the words in the dictionary.  It's probably a waste of time, at any rate.  Each one of you needs to learn a different set of words, even if you are taking the same course.  To be effective, your word list needs to be idiosyncratic.   At Debut you should be able to keep your vocabulary current.  I am grateful for the opportunity of assisting you.

P.S.  If you wish to join Debut send a minimum of ten vocabulary words to essay@shaw.ca.

I will link them to dictionaries and to other internet sites.  If you are sending vocabulary from a novel or textbook please cite the work.  Once I get your words, I will link them to dictionaries etc. and make up an interactive crossword puzzle which you can source from the Puzzle Page above. LL
