Song Said To Have Been Sung by Sam

Their father's shout rushed upslope.  "If you wish to see me off on the eight-eighteen, Hurry on Down!"

"Faster, Didi," prompted Will.

Hot footing it to the scarred steam rail snaking along the lake shore, they were greeted with an angry hiss from Old Loco.

"All Aboard!"

Complaining mightily, the old engine took its own sweet time, huffing and puffing but not yet in earnest.  Long silvery drive rods gave agonizing groans.  Wheels turned with reluctance.  Chug-a-Lug, Chug-Chug, the Iron Horse gathered speed.

If they were especially fast, Will and Darlene imagined that they would have time for a farewell wave but of course they were never that speedy.  That didn't mean that they should give up their kiss quest.  On this particular morning, they began to gather speed like a sudden summer storm boiling down the valley.

They had suddenly gotten faster or else the tired old Choo-Choo had suddenly run out of steam.  Darling Darlene and Will the Wee Wizard had managed to fling two fare-thee-well kisses and even had a moment to snare one of their father's kisses cavorting carelessly in the wind.

How could kisses act so?  Steam from the stack, rose perpendicularly noticed Darlene.  How could their father's kisses cavort so frivolously?

"It must've been the magic of the melody of nesting migrants," she said.  "We've never been this successful before."

"Dad' s kisses did bring a moment of marvelousness, didn't they now," said Will.

"Don't forget our warbling wanderers and their friends.  They may very well have been the ones that brought us luck," replied Darlene.
